Wild Iceland

A journey through the south of the island

Overview

Wild Iceland

Between ancient glaciers and powerful waterfalls, this itinerary reveals Iceland’s most authentic and untamed soul. The journey begins in Reykjavik and stretches along the southern coast, passing through the Golden Circle, home to a primordial landscape dotted with active geysers. In the southeast, the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and nearby Diamond Beach offer almost surreal scenery, where ice takes center stage. The journey continues with a rejuvenating stop at a natural pool set within Iceland’s unspoiled nature before returning to the capital.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival, Reykjavik
Arrival in Reykjavik, transfer by Flybussen to the hotel, and overnight stay.
Day 2 Golden Circle
Breakfast at the hotel. Meet your tour leader and depart for the Golden Circle, including Thingvellir National Park, the site of Iceland’s ancient parliament, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates drift apart by 2-6 cm per year. Continue to Gullfoss waterfall, where, with a bit of luck, you may witness the striking effect of ice partially blocking the flow of water. Then head to the Geysir geothermal area, where Strokkur erupts every 5-10 minutes. Continue to your hotel in southern Iceland for dinner and overnight stay. With a bit of luck, simply stepping outside the hotel may reward you with a view of the Northern Lights.
Day 3 Jökulsárlón Glacier and Diamond Beach
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure towards southeast Iceland to visit the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. In winter, it is not possible to sail among the icebergs, but the scenery is absolutely unmissable. On sunny winter days, the different shades of white and blue ice create a truly magical atmosphere, and you may even spot seals swimming in the lagoon. A stop is also planned at Diamond Beach, named for the ice fragments scattered along the black sand, resembling sparkling diamonds. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 4 Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss Waterfalls, Eyjafjallajökull Volcano and Reykjavik
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, visit Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls, as well as the famous Eyjafjallajökull volcano. Before returning to Reykjavik, stop at the enchanting Secret Lagoon, where you will enjoy a warm bath surrounded by pristine natural scenery. Upon arrival in Reykjavik, enjoy a city tour showcasing its main attractions. Check-in at the hotel and overnight stay.
Day 5 Departure, Reykjavik
Breakfast at the hotel. Check-out and transfer by Flybussen to Evenes Airport.
