The journey continues across the breathtaking Mulanje Mountain and Liwonde reserves, with safaris and Shire River cruises. It concludes with total relaxation on the paradisiacal Nankoma Island in Lake Malawi, enjoying snorkeling and kayaking among colorful fish. Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival, Lusaka (Zambia)
The group will meet in Lusaka, Zambia, at 4:00 PM at the lodge. In the evening, after a briefing on the journey, a group dinner is planned at the lodge (at own expense). Melas: meals not included
Day 2 Kafue River
A long transfer takes you through the southern Zambian hills, covered by Miombo forest, to the plains and a lodge on the banks of the Kafue River. As one of the main tributaries of the Zambezi, the Kafue is the longest and largest river entirely within Zambia. Overnight on the riverbank with the opportunity to enjoy the sunset from the lodge’s panoramic deck. Meals: breakfast and lunch (dinner not included)
Days 3 and 4 Zambezi River
Navigate the mighty Zambezi River, paddling through river villages and breathtaking landscapes. Overnight in a camp on Elephant Bones Island, in the heart of pristine Africa. The following morning, continue the canoe safari in an area populated by elephants, hippos, and other wildlife, before being picked up by a motorized raft and returned to the lodge. Meals: 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 1 dinner
Day 5 Great East Road and Petauke
Head north towards Lusaka, Zambia’s capital, stopping to stock up in its vibrant shops and markets. In the afternoon, travel along the Great East Road, passing small villages and markets until reaching the small town of Petauke at sunset. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner
Day 6 to day 8 South Luangwa National Park
Travel to the “valley” of South Luangwa National Park, one of Africa’s most spectacular wildlife reserves, home to elephants, hippos, lions, and leopards. The lodge, located on the Luangwa River, overlooks the park, and often hippos and elephants can be seen directly from the lodge pool! Explore the area with guided walks and open 4x4 safaris, including a night safari to spot nocturnal animals. (During the green season, December–April, walks may be replaced by additional game drives.) On the final afternoon, free time to relax at the lodge or join another walk, safari, or village visit (at own expense). Meals: breakfast and dinner (lunch not included)
Day 9 Lilongwe (Malawi)
Cross the border at Chipata into Malawi and continue to the capital, Lilongwe, for a provisioning stop. Afternoon free to explore the city or browse the markets before reaching a lodge on the city outskirts. Meals: breakfast and lunch (dinner not included)
Days 10 and 11 Mulanje Mountain
Visit one of Malawi’s famous tea plantations in the Thyolo region before reaching the lodge at Mulanje. The rocky walls of Mulanje Mountain rise nearly 3,002 m, dominating the surrounding landscape and serving as a vital water source for nearly all southern Malawi rivers. Take a full-day hike on its slopes to admire streams, waterfalls, and imposing peaks. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner
Days 12 and 13 Liwonde
Ancient baobabs and tall palms frame this magnificent southern Malawi reserve. Stretching across the plains and slopes of the Shire River valley, Liwonde hosts Malawi’s largest elephant population and endangered black rhinos. In the morning, board an open 4x4 vehicle for a guided safari to spot leopards, elephants, hippos, and antelopes across grasslands and woodlands. The Shire River, bordering the reserve, also offers a boat safari to observe hippos, crocodiles, and elephants coming to drink. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner
Days 14 and 15 Lake Malawi
Lake Malawi, a gem of the country and part of the Great Rift Valley, welcomes you with its crystal-clear waters. Reach Lake Malawi National Park and sail to the remote tropical Nankoma Island near Senga Bay. The island lodge is a true paradise, with kayaks and snorkeling equipment to explore the waters and admire colorful cichlids. Awake to birdsong in your slice of paradise, ready for a day of sun, beach relaxation, or kayaking around the island with stops for snorkeling among a stunning variety of colorful fish. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner
Day 16 Departure, Liwonde
Return by ferry to the mainland and continue to Lilongwe. The tour concludes at 11:00 AM at Lilongwe Airport. Treatments: breakfast (lunch and dinner not included)
