Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival, Paro
After your arrival in Paro, you will immediately begin to immerse yourselves in the local culture with a visit to the National Museum of Bhutan, located on a hill overlooking the Paro Valley. You will then continue to the Paro Dzong, a majestic fortress-monastery, and visit the Nado Poizokhang incense factory. Meals: dinner (breakfast and lunch not included).
Day 2 Dochula Pass and Chimi Lhakhang Temple
Today you will travel up to the legendary Dochula Pass, a winding mountain road that runs through emerald forests to an altitude of 3,050 metres. At the summit, you will be captivated by the moving memorial dedicated to fallen Bhutanese soldiers. The serenity of this sacred place, combined with the panoramic views, offers an unforgettable experience. Descending into the fertile Punakha Valley, you will enjoy a short trek to Chimi Lhakhang Temple. Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 3 Khamsum Yuelley Namgyel Chorten, Punakha Dzong and Phobjikha Valley
In the morning you will walk to the magnificent Khamsum Yuelley Namgyel Chorten, following a scenic path along the Mo Chhu River, through terraced fields filled with colourful vegetables. Upon reaching the chorten on the hilltop, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views over the Punakha Valley – the perfect spot for postcard-worthy photos. The next stop is Punakha Dzong, a majestic fortress located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers, which according to legend symbolises the harmonious balance between male and female energies. After lunch, the journey continues to the evocative Phobjikha Valley, passing through lush landscapes and traditional villages perched on the hillsides. As you approach Gangtey, you will be immersed in authentic Bhutanese life. In the village, you will have the opportunity to share stories with the locals, taste and learn how to prepare delicious homemade dishes, and discover the customs and traditions that make this valley so special. Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 4 Phobjikha Valley
The day is dedicated to discovering the natural wonders and cultural treasures of the Phobjikha Valley, a sanctuary for an extraordinary variety of flora and fauna. Walking among rolling hills, crystal-clear streams and picturesque farmhouses, you will breathe in the fresh mountain air and may spot the majestic black-necked cranes, which inhabit the valley from October to March. You will then head to the spiritual heart of the valley, the Gangtey Monastery. Upon returning to the village, you will spend time with the local family hosting you, gaining insight into daily life and Bhutanese culture. Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 5 Thimphu
The journey continues to the modern capital, Thimphu. Along the way, you will stop at the village of Rinchengang, a small settlement opposite Wangdue Dzong, renowned for its ancient stonework techniques and considered one of the oldest villages in Bhutan. Continuing through lush forests and scenic valleys, you will reach Thimphu, where you will have the opportunity to explore lively markets and admire impressive monuments. Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 6 Thimphu
Today is dedicated to exploring Thimphu’s cultural treasures, starting with the Memorial Chorten, a monument that embodies Bhutanese spirituality and architectural grandeur. You will then visit the Folk Heritage Museum and the School of Arts & Crafts, also known as the National Institute for Zorig Chusum, where you can observe students honing Bhutan’s traditional arts and crafts. The journey into the world of local artisans continues in a workshop, where you will discover the skills required to create refined Thangka paintings, vibrant textiles or the delicate art of basket weaving, with experiences tailored to the day’s programme and the group’s interests. In the afternoon, you will visit the Takin Research Centre, dedicated to Bhutan’s unique national animal, and stop at the Thangthong Dewachen Dupthop Nunnery, offering insight into the lives of female practitioners and their role in Bhutanese Buddhism. The day concludes at the lively weekend market, where you can discover authentic Bhutanese handicrafts. If time permits, you will also attend an archery tournament at the national stadium, a sport deeply rooted in the country’s culture. Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 7 Taktsang Monastery, Drukgyel Dzong and Kyichu Lhakhang
A hike through forests and trails leads you to Bhutan’s most iconic symbol: the majestic Taktsang Monastery, dramatically clinging to a cliff face 800 metres above the valley. In the afternoon, you will visit the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong, an ancient fortress that once defended the valley from invasions. The final stop is the serene Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred temples, dating back to the 7th century. To round off the day, why not indulge in an authentic Bhutanese experience? Enjoy a traditional hot stone bath, letting the warmth melt away tension and fully rejuvenate you. Finally, on your last evening together, you will enjoy a pleasant farewell dinner at a local farmhouse, featuring typical Bhutanese dishes and the warm hospitality of a local family. Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 8 Departure, Paro
The tour ends in Paro, but those who wish may enjoy some free time in town before the transfer to the airport. Meals: breakfast (lunch and dinner not included).
