Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival, Islamabad

Arrival at Islamabad Airport and transfer to the hotel. At 2:00 PM, meet your guide for an afternoon tour of the capital. The visit includes the gigantic Faisal Mosque, the Pakistan Monument, built to symbolize the unity of the Pakistani people, and the impressive Lok Virsa Heritage Museum, which showcases the history and traditions of the country.

Day 2 Kaghan Valley and Naran

In the morning, depart Islamabad to begin your journey towards the northern hills. The route winds through the picturesque Kaghan Valley, embraced by the peaks of the lesser Himalayas. Along the way, visit the Buddhist monastery of Jaulian and the ancient city of Sirkap before reaching Naran, renowned for its colorful landscapes. Explore the lively bazaar and surroundings before overnighting here.

Day 3 Babusar Pass and Fairy Meadows

The road climbs to Babusar Pass and then descends towards Chilas, located on the banks of the majestic Indus River. Stop at Lulusar Lake before continuing along the Karakoram Highway to Raikot Bridge. From here, take a narrow mountain road leading to Tato village. Leave the vehicles and trek to Fairy Meadows, a legendary place offering unparalleled views of Nanga Parbat.

Day 4 Fairy Meadows

Fairy Meadows is one of the most scenic locations in the world and a starting point for spectacular treks. You can choose a simple hike through the forest to Beyal Camp, or continue from Beyal Camp to Nanga Parbat Base Camp (suitable for experienced hikers, rewarding with breathtaking views). Those preferring a slower pace can enjoy shorter walks around Fairy Meadows or observe the local wildlife, including marmots, Himalayan ibex, and birds. The remote location also makes it perfect for stargazing.

Day 5 Astore Valley and Tarashing

Depart Fairy Meadows after breakfast and trek down to Tato, where you will meet your vehicles to continue to Tarashing, passing through the beautiful Astore Valley, covered with dense pine forests. The roads become increasingly narrow and winding until reaching the remote village of Tarashing. The surrounding fields offer picturesque views, and in summer, the meadows bloom spectacularly.

Day 6 Herrligkoffer Base Camp

Another stunning mountain excursion awaits. From Tarashing, continue to Rupal village and begin a trek through small settlements and pastures of yaks and cattle, reaching Herrligkoffer Base Camp at the foot of Nanga Parbat. After returning to Tarashing, enjoy free time to stroll the village, meet locals, and observe daily life in these remote areas.

Day 7 Deosai National Park and Skardu

The route takes you through Deosai National Park: rolling meadows rich with flowers, framed by snow-capped Himalayan peaks, and numerous freshwater lakes make this pristine area a true wildlife paradise. Continue to Skardu, the capital of the Baltistan region, known as "Little Tibet." Along the way, stop at the scenic Satpura Lake and visit the Manthal Buddha: a large granite rock carved with the figure of Buddha, considered one of the most important Buddhist relics in the region.

Day 8 Shigar Valley

Today’s excursion explores the fertile Shigar Valley. Cross the Indus River and follow the Shigar River upstream. This lush valley, famous for its orchards, is mainly inhabited by Balti people of Tibetan origin and preserves numerous historically significant buildings. Visit Amburiq Mosque and enjoy lunch at Shigar Fort. Return to Skardu and, in the late afternoon, take a walk to Kharpocho Fort, built on a hill overlooking the city.

Day 9 Kachura Lakes and Gilgit

After breakfast, return along the Karakoram Highway towards Gilgit. The route follows the banks of the Indus River, offering spectacular views. Stop at Kachura Lakes, noting the wild apricot trees that grow in the area. Gilgit is a city of great historical significance, surrounded by high peaks. Arrive in time to visit the old British cemetery and the lively local bazaar. With some luck, you may even catch a polo match, a beloved sport in the region.

Day 10 Hunza Valley

Travel north towards the former Hunza Kingdom, a fairytale land framed by snowy peaks. Walk from Borith Lake to a viewpoint near the majestic Passu Glacier. The brackish waters of the lake are said to be beneficial for the skin, and in summer many enjoy a refreshing swim. The area is also an important sanctuary for migratory birds. The day ends at the hotel with a memorable dinner blending Indian and Chinese flavors.

Day 11 Hussaini Suspension Bridge, Gulmit, and Karimabad

After breakfast, visit the famous Hussaini Suspension Bridge, considered the second-longest artificial suspension bridge in the world. Continue along the Hunza River to Gulmit village, visiting the Pamiri music school, a local museum, and the KORGAH weaving center, which supports rural women artisans. In the afternoon, arrive in Karimabad, the main town of Hunza Valley, to visit the ancient Baltit Fort.

Day 12 Altit and Duikar

In the morning, take a walk around Karimabad, exploring the lively bazaar. You may also witness a polo match here. Visit Altit Fort and the eponymous village overlooking the Hunza River Valley. During the day, explore the CIQAM Project, an initiative combining tradition and innovation to empower marginalized communities in the valley. In the late afternoon, ascend to Duikar village to enjoy a spectacular sunset view.

Day 13 Karakorum Highway and Shatial

Begin the return journey along the Karakoram Highway. Reaching Gilgit, observe the spectacular meeting point of the three highest mountain ranges in the world: the Himalayas, Karakoram, and Hindu Kush. Stop at Shatial near Chilas to admire the extraordinary local petroglyphs. Depending on weather, road, and safety conditions, you can choose between two routes: follow the ancient Karakoram Highway along the Indus Valley to Besham for overnight, traveling through steep gorges and cliffs, or return via Babusar Pass, retracing Kaghan Valley to overnight in Naran.

Day 14 Grand Trunk Road, Taxila, and Rawalpindi

Continue along the Grand Trunk Road. Stop at Taxila, an ancient and prestigious cradle of Eastern culture. Conclude the day with a walking tour of the bustling streets of Raja Bazaar in Rawalpindi, adjacent to Islamabad. Here, visit the gold and silver markets, observing local artisans at work.

Day 15 Departure, Islamabad

The tour ends in Islamabad, but those who wish may enjoy additional free time before the transfer to the airport.
