On this 12-day tour through Madagascar’s tropical nature and traditions, you will explore the island’s treasures, from lemurs and other unique species to tropical beaches, lively markets, and ever-changing landscapes. Starting and ending in the capital, Antananarivo, the journey takes you through pristine nature, the lush forests of Andasibe, the hills of Antsirabe, Fianarantsoa, Isalo National Park, Ifaty, and Tulear.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival, Antananarivo
Arrival in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar, and meeting with your guide for transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore the city.
Day 2 Andasibe National Park
In the morning, transfer to Andasibe National Park, located in a lush, green region with pristine forests and lakes. Along the way, visit Merina villages scattered among the rocky mountains. Arrival in Andasibe in the afternoon and hotel check-in. In the evening, take a night walk to observe nocturnal lemurs and other wildlife.
Day 3 Andasibe Nature Reserve
Morning visit to Andasibe Nature Reserve to spot indris, the largest lemurs on the island. The 810-hectare reserve is home to a rich variety of orchids, chameleons, tenrecs, and birds. In the afternoon, visit V.O.I.I.M.A, a reserve focused on rainforest conservation and local community projects, where you can also encounter brown lemurs, indris, chameleons, geckos, and birds. Overnight at the same hotel.
Day 4 Antsirabe
Transfer to Antsirabe, crossing the highlands with its stunning rice terraces. Stop in Ambatolampy to visit this major agricultural town before reaching the elegant town of Antsirabe in the evening, known for its beer industry.
Day 5 Ranomafana National Park
Transfer via Ambositra, the center of local woodcarving, with its colorful wooden balconies. Pass through rice fields, pine forests, eucalyptus groves, and rocky mountains before arriving at Ranomafana National Park.
Day 6 Ranomafana National Park
Explore the 40,000-hectare Ranomafana National Park, famous for its rainforest-covered hills and abundant wildlife. Enjoy long walks in the park, spotting lemurs, chameleons, and other animals.
Day 7 Fianarantsoa
Visit a local winery near Fianarantsoa, the capital of the Betsileo tribes, for wine tasting. Continue to Ambalavao to visit the Anteimoro Paper Factory, a legacy of Arab influence on the island. Participate in a silk weaving project run by the women’s association “Soalandy,” then travel through the Andringitra mountain range to see the spectacular “Southern Gate,” a granite dome marking the edge of the highlands. Continue to Ihosy, the capital of the Bara tribes, crossing the vast Horombe Plateaux with its striking red soil.
Day 8 Isalo National Park
Excursion in Isalo National Park, covering 81,540 hectares, including the entire Isalo massif. Enjoy spectacular views of sandstone mountains, spot sifakas, lemurs, various birds, lizards, and snakes, and reach a natural swimming pool with crystal-clear water.
Day 9 Ifaty
Transfer to Tuléar, passing through arid western forests, the spiny desert in the south, and the distinctive tombs of the Mahafaly and Antandroy tribes. Continue to Ifaty, located in the driest part of the country.
Day 10 Ifaty
Enjoy a full day of activities in Ifaty, including diving, snorkeling, birdwatching, visiting the Reniala forest, boat trips to see whales, and visiting Mangily village to learn about the lifestyle of the Vezo fishermen.
Day 11 Ifaty, Tuléar and Antananarivo
Early morning transfer to the airport for the flight back to Antananarivo. After hotel check-in, the afternoon is free to explore the capital.
Day 12 Departure, Antananarivo
Transfer to Antananarivo Airport for your departure flight.
