This journey through Sweden and Finland begins in Luleå, along the Gulf of Bothnia. From here, the route winds through historic villages, UNESCO-listed archipelagos, and cities with a contemporary character. Encounters with reindeer, unique experiences such as sailing to Vaasa, and a stay in nature lodges allow you to fully immerse yourself in the Nordic way of life. The journey concludes in Rovaniemi, on the Arctic Circle, where the atmosphere becomes truly magical among snow-covered forests, the famous Santa Claus Village, and clear nights perfect for admiring the Northern Lights. For departures on 03/02/2027 and 18/03/2027, the itinerary will operate in reverse, starting in Finland and ending in Sweden.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival, Luleå (Sweden)

Arrival at Luleå Airport. Two scheduled transfers to the hotel will be arranged, with timings communicated approximately one month prior to departure. Luleå is one of the most charming towns along the Gulf of Bothnia. Located in Arctic Scandinavia, it offers the possibility, weather and solar activity permitting, of spotting the Northern Lights. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2 Gammelstad and Skellefteå

Breakfast at the hotel. Meet your tour leader and depart for Gammelstad, an ancient church village listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will have time to wander among its charming wooden houses before continuing south. A stop is planned for a close encounter with Arctic reindeer, where you will learn about their history and importance to local communities. Continue to Skellefteå, where you will stay at the Wood Hotel, an impressive structure built entirely from locally sourced timber and among the tallest wooden buildings in the world, with 20 floors. The hotel features a high-end spa and one of the most renowned restaurants in the Arctic region, with a strong focus on sustainability and local products. Overnight stay.

Day 3 Umeå and Vaasa (Finland)

Breakfast at the hotel and departure for Umeå, a charming town overlooking the Gulf of Bothnia. Among its highlights is the unique Guitars Museum, home to one of the world’s most important guitar collections, curated by two passionate brothers. From the port, board a Wasaline ferry to cross the semi-frozen sea to Finland, arriving in Vaasa. The vessel is a state-of-the-art example of modern sustainable engineering. Meal on board. Upon arrival, transfer to a hotel certified with the Green Key eco-label. Overnight stay.

Day 4 Kvarken Archipelago, Jakobstad, Kokkola, Neristan, Kalajoki and Oulu

Breakfast at the hotel. After a short visit of Vaasa, continue north along the Gulf of Bothnia coastline. Just outside Vaasa lies the Kvarken Archipelago, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is a bilingual region, where road signs often appear in both Finnish and Swedish, and towns may have dual names, such as Pietarsaari/Jakobstad, one of your first stops. Continue to Kokkola, a town with a charming blend of history, culture, and nature. Visit Neristan, the old town, where cobbled streets tell centuries-old stories. Proceed to Kalajoki, a popular Finnish summer destination known for its sandy beaches. Lunch upon arrival. In the afternoon, enjoy a unique experience on the frozen sea aboard a sled pulled by a snowmobile, with the opportunity to step off and walk on the ice. Continue to Oulu, check-in at the hotel, and free time to explore the city independently. Named European Capital of Culture 2026, Oulu combines innovation and tradition in a distinctly Finnish atmosphere. Overnight stay.

Day 5 Rovaniemi and Posio

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for Rovaniemi, with a stop at the famous Santa Claus Village. You will also cross the Arctic Circle, which runs directly through the village. In the afternoon, continue through the heart of Finnish Lapland, skirting Riisitunturi National Park, to reach Posio. Here you will stay in the brand-new lodges of the Lights of Lapland Resort. From the comfort of your bed, you can admire the beauty of the Lapland sky, and, if you’re lucky, enjoy a private Northern Lights display. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6 Posio

Breakfast at the hotel. Full day dedicated to optional activities. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Kirikeskus.

Day 7 Departure, Rovaniemi

Breakfast at the hotel. Two scheduled transfers to Rovaniemi Airport will be arranged, with timings communicated approximately one month prior to departure.

Guided tour with Italian-speaking guide from Day 2 to Day 6, accommodation in hotel, airport transfers, meal plan, activities, and transfers as per itinerary.
