Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival, from Johannesburg to Kruger National Park
Your adventure begins with a transfer from Johannesburg to Kruger National Park, South Africa’s most renowned safari destination and one of the last great wildlife paradises on the planet. En route, you will stop for lunch (at your own expense). In the afternoon, you will enter the park and begin wildlife spotting as you make your way to the lodge at Skukuza Rest Camp. Kruger National Park is home to the famous Big Five (lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, and rhino), as well as 336 tree species, 49 fish species, 34 amphibians, 116 reptiles, 507 birds, and 147 mammals. Arrive at the lodge in the late afternoon and enjoy dinner at the lodge’s restaurant. Meals: Dinner (breakfast and lunch not included)
Day 2 Kruger National Park
Wake up at dawn to prepare for an exciting full-day safari with expert guides aboard an open safari vehicle. You will receive a packed breakfast to enjoy at one of the park’s picnic areas. Keep your notebook ready to record sightings of animals and birds, including the famous Big Five. Admire elegant giraffes among acacia trees and watch the African skies, where vultures circle overhead indicating prey. Listen to the call of a fish eagle or the deep, unmistakable roar of a lion. During the day, enjoy a relaxing lunch (at your own expense) in a scenic picnic area surrounded by the park’s pristine beauty. Take a moment to soak in the unique energy of the African savannah. Return to the lodge in the late afternoon and conclude the evening with dinner under the stars—share stories around the campfire or in the lodge restaurant. Meals: Breakfast and dinner (lunch not included).
Day 3 Orpen Gate and Makalali Game Reserve
Leaving the wilds of Kruger National Park is not easy, but Hoedspruit, the beating heart of African wildlife, awaits. After breakfast, you will still have opportunities to spot animals during the approximately three-hour drive to Orpen Gate, where you will exit the park and head to Makalali Private Game Reserve. This reserve is renowned for its diverse wildlife, stunning landscapes, and its skyline dominated by the Drakensberg mountains. It is also home to one of Africa’s most threatened species: the African wild dog. There will be a stop for lunch (at your own expense) along the way. Upon arrival at the lodge, enjoy a delightful afternoon tea, refresh in the pool, or relax on the scenic terrace. In the afternoon, explore this 26,000-hectare private reserve aboard an open safari vehicle with an expert guide. Two thrilling game drives await, offering hours of adventure and wonder. The day concludes with dinner served on the lodge terrace before retiring to your suite for the night. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 4 Graskop and Panorama Route
Early morning in the savannah is an extraordinary experience. Immerse yourself in the atmosphere with a guided bush walk or a safari in an open vehicle. After a hearty breakfast at the lodge, depart along the Panorama Route, where the landscape transforms from savannah to lush green mountains and valleys. Stop for lunch (at your own expense) along the way. Your first stop is the Blyde River Canyon, the largest green canyon in the world, rich with waterfalls and ancient geological formations, including the Three Rondavels—three conical peaks resembling African huts. Walk across the bridges above Bourke’s Luck Potholes, impressive cavities carved into the sandstone by swirling waters over millennia. Admire the rainbow hues created by Lisbon Falls, cascading from 94 meters; weather permitting, enjoy a short walk to the base of the waterfall. Continue to the highest viewpoint of the day, God’s Window, and finally see the Pinnacle, a solitary rock formation offering unrivaled views of the canyon. Overnight near Graskop, a town founded in the 1880s during the gold rush, now part of the region’s timber industry. End the day with a relaxing dinner at your hotel. Meals: Breakfast and dinner (lunch not included).
Day 5 Departure, Johannesburg
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before beginning your journey back to Johannesburg. Stop for lunch (at your own expense) along the way, arriving in the afternoon at Johannesburg airport or at major hotels in Sandton and Rosebank. Meals: Breakfast (lunch and dinner not included).
