Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival, Beijing
Begin your journey by meeting the Adventure Leader and fellow participants in the hostel lobby for a briefing on the highlights of your itinerary. After leaving your luggage, you will transfer directly to the iconic Great Wall of China. Get ready for an unforgettable hike along an unrestored section of the Wall before camping in a secluded area. As night falls, enjoy stargazing and a fun introductory Mandarin lesson. (Tent accommodation will be replaced with a guesthouse stay when temperatures are low, particularly before May 1 and after September 30.)
Day 2 Great Wall and Beijing
Start the day with the incredible sunrise over the Great Wall, a truly unforgettable experience (weather permitting). Back in Beijing, you will have free time to explore the city at your own pace. Immerse yourself in contemporary culture at the 798 Art District, find serenity at the Summer Palace, or organize visits to other iconic city landmarks with your group
Day 3 Beijing
Begin with an optional visit to Tiananmen Square, followed by a tour of the majestic Forbidden City. Wander through the world’s largest palace complex, a labyrinth of 980 buildings telling the story of 24 emperors. For a memorable photo, climb Jingshan Park for panoramic views over the city rooftops. Evening optional activities include an exciting Chinese acrobatics show or tasting the legendary Peking duck.
Day 4 Beijing and transfer to Hangzhou
Your last day in Beijing is at leisure. You can shop for souvenirs, relax amidst the history of the Temple of Heaven, or explore the lively Nanluo district with its traditional hutongs and modern cafés. In the evening, collect your luggage and take the overnight train to Hangzhou, beginning the next stage of your journey.
Day 5 Hangzhou and West Lake
Upon arrival in Hangzhou, transfer to your hostel for breakfast. Then head to the famous West Lake for a scenic boat trip to one of its beautiful islands. After check-in in the afternoon, enjoy free time. If you’re feeling energetic, visit the National Tea Museum or Lingyin Temple. In the evening, take an unforgettable trip up Mount Jiuyao for a breathtaking sunset. Return to the city for dinner and free time; don’t miss a stroll along Hefang Street, Hangzhou’s most famous historic street.
Day 6 Nine Creeks and transfer to Shanghai
In the morning, enjoy a hike through misty woodlands to the Nine Creeks. After returning to the hostel for lunch, take the high-speed train to Shanghai, then continue by metro to your hostel.
Day 7 Shanghai
After a relaxed morning, take part in a Mandarin lesson taught by professional teachers from the Mandarin Garden Chinese Language School. In the afternoon, join a visit to the Yu Gardens or head to People’s Square before exploring the world’s busiest shopping street, Nanjing Road. In the evening, experience Shanghai’s nightlife: join the Drunken Dragon Pub Crawl or enjoy a more refined evening sipping champagne in a rooftop hot tub with stunning city views.
Day 8 Shanghai
Another free day in Shanghai awaits. With countless attractions, shopping streets, and sightseeing opportunities, there’s plenty to choose from. Optional tours are also available for those seeking more adventure.
Day 9 Shanghai
Start the day with a walk through the former French Concession to discover Shanghai’s international history. Visit the Propaganda Poster Art Centre and admire the iconic skyline of the modern Financial District. Alternatively, explore TianziFang, a vibrant artistic neighborhood blending traditional and contemporary styles. For thrill-seekers, ascend the Jin Mao Tower and try the sky walk experience.
