Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival, Luanda (Angola)
Arrive in Luanda, Angola’s vibrant capital: a city of contrasts where colonial architecture sits alongside modern skyscrapers, and the bustling port coexists with tranquil beaches. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel. The afternoon is free to relax, settle in, and soak up the energy of this dynamic metropolis. In the evening, enjoy an optional dinner at a local restaurant featuring Angolan and international cuisine. Meals: not included
Day 2 Luanda and Cuanza River
Explore Luanda’s lively streets and immerse yourself in its rich history and culture. Visit the Slave Museum, then head to the Miradouro for panoramic views of the coast and city. Later, take a boat excursion on the majestic Cuanza River. Weather permitting, visit the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre to learn about local conservation projects. Lunch is at a local restaurant during the excursion (not included). Dinner is at leisure at a restaurant (not included). Meals: Breakfast (lunch and dinner not included)
Day 3 From Cuanza to Kalandula
At sunrise, depart for the inland, crossing gradually changing landscapes: rolling hills, open plains dotted with small settlements, and winding rivers. Experience authentic rural life, where communities maintain deep traditions in harmony with their surroundings. Midday stop for lunch, with time to stretch your legs and admire the endless horizons. In the afternoon, the scenery becomes increasingly remote, with baobab-strewn valleys leading to the wonders of Kalandula. Arrive at camp in the late afternoon, a perfect place to relax and enjoy this little-visited region. Dinner is prepared by the Drifters guides and enjoyed under the stars. Day 4 From Kalandula to Pedras Negras
After breakfast at camp, admire Kalandula Falls from the eastern side, then cross to the western side for a walk with additional viewpoints. Lunch is served from the truck during the journey. In the afternoon, explore the impressive Pedras Negras on foot and marvel at these granite monoliths rising from the surrounding savannah. Dinner is prepared by the Drifters guides and enjoyed at camp. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Day 5 From Pedras Negras to Fazenda Rio Uiri
Wake up in a surreal environment and head south to Angola’s verdant highlands. Along the way, pass small rural villages, tropical forests, and gentle hills, offering insight into daily life in this remote region. Midway, stop in a small town for lunch at a local restaurant (own expense) before continuing through lush landscapes dotted with banana plantations. Arrive at Fazenda Rio Uiri in the late afternoon, an oasis of tranquility contrasting with the day’s journey. Enjoy a relaxed dinner in a serene atmosphere. Meals: Breakfast and dinner (lunch not included)
Day 6 Fazenda Rio Uiri
A day dedicated to relaxation and exploration. Immerse yourself in life on this coffee and banana farm: stroll through the grounds, meet the staff, take a guided tour, relax by the pool, explore nearby areas, or simply enjoy the peace, silence, and birdwatching. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Day 7 From Rio Uiri to Lobito
After breakfast, continue to the coast, crossing lush highlands and descending into the Benguela region. Stop at Binga Waterfall, where the Keve River cascades onto the floodplain, offering a lunch break and the chance to stretch your legs. Arrive in the small holiday town of Lobito in the afternoon; the hotel in Restinga is conveniently located for exploring the beach, historic sites, and local attractions on foot. Dinner is at Luna Restaurant or similar (own expense), with the opportunity to sample local cuisine and relax after the journey. Meals: Breakfast and dinner (lunch not included)
Day 8 From Lobito to Lucira
After breakfast at the hotel, travel along Angola’s southern coastline, passing remote fishing villages, rugged shorelines, and expansive Atlantic Ocean views. Enjoy a light lunch on the truck en-route. Arrive in Lucira in the afternoon and set up camp on the beach facing the Atlantic. Walk along the shore, swim in the ocean, explore the surroundings, or simply relax at camp. Dinner is prepared by the Drifters guides and enjoyed under the stars. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Day 9 From Lucira to Praia do Soba
After breakfast, continue along the coast to Praia do Soba, a lodge perched dramatically on a rocky peninsula overlooking the Atlantic. Weather permitting, take a local boat trip across the bay to Gruta da Santa to spot dolphins, turtles, and other marine life. Lunch is served from the truck before arrival at the lodge, where scattered rocky coves create a unique and unforgettable environment. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Day 10 Praia do Soba
Wake to the gentle sounds of the ocean and enjoy a full day at leisure. Explore deserted beaches, hidden coves, and desert landscapes on foot, or simply relax at the lodge and take in the panoramic Atlantic views. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Day 11 Namibe Reserve
After breakfast, travel along dramatic coastal and desert landscapes via Moçâmedes. Lunch is served from the truck en-route. In the afternoon, enter Namibe Reserve, where a desert walk lets you experience the stark beauty and unique flora of this remote environment. Dinner is prepared by the Drifters guides at the wild camp under the stars. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Day 12 Leba Pass and Lubango
Drive through rolling desert hills and ascend the spectacular Leba Pass, with 12 hairpin bends offering breathtaking views over the coastal plain. Pause at the Thirstland Trekker Graves to glimpse the lives of pioneer farmers. Arrive in Lubango, where the Christo Rei statue provides a striking viewpoint over the city and valleys. Lunch is served from the truck; dinner at the lodge (own expense). Meals: Breakfast and lunch (dinner not included)
Day 13 From Lubango to Oncocua
Drive through highlands, stopping at Tundavala Gap for panoramic views over the endless plains. Descend through picturesque valleys and farmland toward Oncocua. Lunch is served from the truck. At camp, enjoy dinner prepared by the Drifters guides under the African sky. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Day 14 From Oncocua to Ruacana
After breakfast, explore Angola’s remote landscapes. Encounter nomadic tribes and observe their traditional lifestyles. Lunch is served from the truck. Arrive at the wild camp in the late afternoon and enjoy dinner prepared by the Drifters guides. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Day 15 From Ruacana to Etosha National Park (Namibia)
Cross the border into Namibia and view the spectacular Ruacana Falls, where the Cunene River tumbles into the desert. Lunch is served from the truck during the journey. Arrive in Etosha in the afternoon for an introductory game drive, then settle at camp where dinner is prepared by the Drifters guides. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Day 16 Etosha National Park
Full day game drive in Etosha National Park. Travel in the Drifters truck with elevated seating and large windows for uninterrupted wildlife viewing. Visit waterholes where animals gather for close encounters and photo opportunities. Lunch is served from the truck. Camp setup and dinner by the Drifters guides in the evening. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Day 17 Etosha National Park
Another day of game driving in Etosha. Witness elephants, lions, giraffes, rhinos, and antelopes across vast salt pans and acacia-studded savannas. Lunch is served from the truck. Exit the park in the late afternoon and head to Taleni Etosha Village Campsite, where dinner is prepared by the Drifters guides. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Day 18 Windhoek
After breakfast, travel south toward Windhoek. Stop at a curio market; lunch is served from the truck. Arrive in the capital for a short city tour highlighting colonial-era architecture, bustling streets, and cultural landmarks. Dinner at the iconic Joe’s Beerhouse (own expense) with local and international cuisine. Meals: Breakfast and lunch (dinner not included)
Day 19 Departure, Windhoek
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your onward flight. Meals: breakfast (lunch and dinner not included).
